Default balancing issues with KO2's??

Hi has anyone heard of balancing issues with KO2's? I have heard nothing but positive things about that tire. I emailed 4wp in Raleigh and received this as a reply:

Pete, for that size tire it would be $99 to mount and balance 4.
We don't do the BFG Ko2's in here due to how bad they are now-a-days. We got so wrapped up into re-balances and replacements that we lose money on selling those, so from a business stand point, they are out for us, in this store.

4 Wheel Parts

Hmm perhaps I look at NItto?

I have had issues with KO2's on the 2 different trucks I put them on. I had ordered a set for a 2016 Tacoma and all 4 could not be balanced by 3 different shops. Finally the 3rd shop got on the phone with BFG and they agreed to replace all 4. Still had a minor vibration with those. I than put a set on my 2016 F150 and had at least one tire that would never balance correctly the year I had the truck. I have always loved the look of the KO2's but did not purchase them for my 2018 because of previous issues.

Ive bought two sets of bfg at’s. The first set was in 07 and the old style. They rode like a dream. I bought a second set in 16 and they were the ko2’s. Totally different. Rode rough, never balanced right and hummed horribly once they started wearing. Rotated and it helped but never was like the original set.

just bought a 15 F150 and has a like new set on it. They seem to ride decent.

My 08 F150 had new Nitto Terra Grapplers on it when i bought it. I got 70,000 miles out of them and sold them for like $250 to a guy that was going to put them on his F250. Have nothing but good things to say about the Nittos!

All i want to do is replace my Open Country TOYO R/T (which are in good shape) just a bit loud for me. But I can live with it if I have to (turn up the stereo) And then I got this curveball.

Nitto was on my list but would be noisy as well. Here are more responses from him

Here are some additional responses to my initial email:

Pete,
Yes sir! Aprox. 4 years ago the KO2 came out, we put them on EVERYTHING! They were perfect! 2 years ago, they changed something in the belts or rubber compound and they just shake their butts off, and get a fraction of the mileage life that they used to get.

I have had ZERO issues with the Nitto Ridge Grappler for ride quality and life. The only slight "issue" I have is the ***** on the sidewall at the tread like to grab surfaces in the fender well can can be what causes rubbing.

The Ridge Grappler is going to be next to identical ride and sound as the Toyo R/T. IF you already had the idea of BFG KO2, then check out the TOYO AT2. They have been the most asked for tire and has given us a snapshot of being the quietest and longer lasting tire in comparison to all the others I have under my umbrella.

I just had four KO2's installed today (34X10.5/17) and they seem fine at highway speeds!
