Automatic headlight issues alpharex
Thanks for the info. I don’t have grill lights on my truck. And unfortunately my truck was originally sold in Canada so I do not have the option of turning off my drl from the steering wheel control. When I spoke with Alpharex they told me disabling the drl was the only fix. I’m sure a dealership won’t go into my computer and make the fix, so I guess I will try to dip my toes into Forscan. I really hate to send the lights back. The light output is fantastic and they look great, but unfortunately just aren’t working correctly in my truck. They do have a 30 day rerun policy though.
So if anyone is still having issues with the Alpharex Nova series not functioning properly, it definitely seems to be a drl issue. I have a Canadian truck so I did not have the option to turn my drl off at the cluster. I contacted a local Ford garage and they told me it was not possible to do on my truck. With help from this site and Forscan, it is absolutely possible and only take a few minutes. I was able to get the drl disabled and now my Alpharex lights seem to work perfectly.
@SuddenSammy thanks for the update. if possible, keep us posted of any changes down the road. I still plan on disconnecting my grille lights and wiring them to an add-tap fuse. I know the grille light doesn't apply to your situation, but glad to hear you're good now.
I'm also having the same issue.....However I would think its a Ford issue....I also have grille lights hooked up and when my plank goes out so does my grille light. That means power on the incoming circuit is no longer present. So I tried moving the tap to the other side and guess what?? That plank and grille light went out. I believe the computer sees additional draw on marker light circuit and shuts it down.....? Of course this is just a hypothesis I would hope someone from Ford could confirm this

So something the OP said in first post made me think...
The issue isn't there when on manual but exists when on auto...
Ford has a recall on 2018 and 2019 and 2020 trucks equipped with the factory OEM LED headlights.
Seems that theres an issue between auto and manual with regard to the headlight led strips and some of them do not lower in brightness as a result.
(the led strips are brighter during day, and lower in brightness with headlights on)
Now I know this is a long shot, and I realize that you all don't have the factory LED lights but is it possible the programming is the same across the board for all trucks?
(someone mentioned they think this is a ford issue)
Anyway...figurred I'd share.
Good luck!

I just finished installing my Alpharex Nova LED's this morning, and am having similar but different issues. My issue is with the turn signals. If the light switch is in the AUTO position and i turn the blinkers/hazards on, only half of the LED strip illuminates during the sequential signal. If the light switch is in the ON/MANUAL position, then the LED strip illuminates fully. Both of these situations are with the truck in park. I have DRL enabled. My only working theory so far is that the low beams (which are also the DRL's) have to be on in order for the LED bar to fully illuminate. When I have someone who can help me, I want to try leaving the headlights in auto and putting the truck in drive (which will kick on the DRL/low beams) and see if it works properly then.
I know that the power for the right half of the LED strip doesn't come off the same circuit as the low beams, because the unlock/startup light show works just fine and the low beams aren't on. So it'd just be some sort of weird logic/programming issue.
Has anyone else experienced this or know a solution?

Hi everyone I was having some of the same issues I actually spoke to someone from Alpharex and he told me to disconnect the negative post for half hour to reset the system and my headlights are working now I hope this helps
That will reset the BCM, but if it detects a problem again the marker light will be disabled. I have been dealing with this for a while and finally got AlphaRex attention. They are sending me a "kit" to fix the problem.... *crosses fingers*
