To appease the tree huggers / environmentalists, I would guess.

On the Escape you can go into the centre screen and turn it off

Apparently, the Escape is smarter than the F150. Very disheartening

Default Because Being A Dumb A** is so cool!!!!

I sure wasted some gas on this one, timing the truck when it would turn off. Trying to figure out the sequence on how to beat the system.....but I am still coool.

If i would have just dug a little deeper in my settings, I would have found this a lot earlier. The engine override is in the advance settings. DUH!!! Thank you MJR77 for making me re-think and look at my settings again.

Page 163 of the manual reads "You cannot permanently switch off the automatic engine shutdown feature. When you switch if off temporarily, it turns on at the next ignition cycle".

Very true, every time you want to leave your truck running for an extended period of you have to uncheck auto shutoff. Its a pain to remeber, but i have gotten use to it, unchecking it before i get out.

Sounds like it's easier to just leave the parking lights on, key in console, lock with keypad than three levels deep in the menu system every time you want to keep the truck to keep running...

This thread was hilarious. I feel like I owe Rize_Up some gas money.
