Default Audio + upgrades

I am looking for people's comments on how well the OEM sound system is for them in the new 2015 F150.
I own a couple of 2013 F150's and I'm considering the new one.
Thanks

I have a 15 Lariat with the Sony sound system and I can attest that it is a pretty terrible sound system. I came from a 14 Silverado with the Bose system and that thing could rock. This Sony system however sounds hollow and tinny.

I am holding out for Harman to release the JBL Concert upgrade, or may just have to replace the amp and add a better sub/speakers myself.

Also really interested in the Harmon product but I have not heard any recent updates regarding a release date.

They're all pretty awful at all trim levels.

If you don't wanna change it out then get a Sony system in a 5.0 truck. The 3.5 EBs come with fake motor noise at certain trim levels.

It pumps low frequencies to the front door speakers and, totally my opinion, has to screw with even the sony systems.

I was choosing between a 501 Lariat and a 502 Lariat. The Sony system in the 502 sucked compared to my 2010 so I went with the 501 and 10 days later tried to change it out/upgrade.

I have / had issues with the fake motor noise. The Clarion head unit is crap.

I have been pm'd by enough members that I think it can be upgraded but so far I've been unsuccessful.

Maybe a bit more info than you wanted.

YMMV

Meh. It's a truck. Overall I'm happy with the Sony system. Sure it could be better. An amp and subwoofer would be a great place to start.

But. It's a truck.

I didn't buy it for the sound system.

Lots of differing opinions on this topic. IMHO, the stock system in my 2015 XLT is 10x better than the stock system in my 2012 XLT. Not like a Bose system, but not terrible either.

I have the non-sony system on my Lariat and it's miles better than other vehicles I've owned. I'm not an audiophile and I probably wouldn't be very happy if I dropped 2k and this is what it sounded like, but for stock I was pretty happy.

Happy enough such that even if it weren't for the "fake engine noise" issues and problems upgrading, I would probably keep it stock.

I asked Harman about it a week ago and was told it would be released late April/May and would be $1500/$1999 installed. I'm hoping that's MSRP and will actually be cheaper. A rep from CarToyz said they expected it later this month. So we'll see.

I also tried contacting Kicker to get some information on their Sub package and didn't get a response.
