While the stock system can be improved by replacing a number of the components, I certainly wouldn't say that it sounds horrible.

Best response I've read. It's a truck. I don't think the sound is awful. It's not as good as my 2011 Platinum and they've removed the hard drive feature which I liked. The head unit can only sync 15,000 songs but you can split them up on two 64 gig scandisk USB drives.

The bass response isn't as good as it used to be, but on the other hand the entire rear seat floor is flat and wide open. (the sub-woofer is smaller and tucked beneath the right rear passenger seat.)

But. It's a truck.

I didn't buy it for the sound system.

I personally don't think it sounds horrible. Swaying out to Infinity 6832CF door speakers made a big difference. I also added foam to the sub box which helped. My biggest issue is that once you get the volume past about half the sub starts to not increase anymore.

Multiple threads on this:

On Lariat, Platinum and King Ranch trims with Ecoboost. The radio makes fake motor noise and pumps it to your front door speakers.

It's a module called the DACMC and it is INSIDE your radio/ACM. There's no off switch, fuse, plug, cable, or wire to disconnect. It's there all the time and in my opinion is the worst thing Ford could have done to the best selling truck in the country.

There has got to be a BCM code that could be changed to disable it. Just haven't been out long enough for someone to figure it out. Can't see Ford having a completely different setup for lesser trim models or for the V8 which makes the natural sound:-)

I have the 3.5 Ecoboost in the XLT sport package. I haven't heard the fake engine noise. I think i read in another forum that it was only put into lariat ,platinum and KR packages. I am an audiophile and love listening to good quality music. I understand that it is a truck and if you ordered the upgraded radio then yours might sound good but i didn't knowing that i wanted something a little more custom. Horrible maybe a little strong lets just say its acceptable. LOL

Z7What -

One would think wouldn't they? I've harassed every dealer in town and asked them to call Ford and ask. I got the same answer from everyone. "There is currently no way to disable the DACMC in the EB models."

Ford does put a different ACM in the XL and XLT models.

When I talked to the parts guys, they all told me the ACM part number for an XLT is different than an Lariat or higher EB AND different than a 5.0.

Essentially, there are at least 3 ACMs in these trucks and Ford told me I cannot purchase an ACM for a 5.0 and have it installed in my EB.
