Default Antenna base replacement help

Hi All,

A while back I posted that my antenna stem snapped off in the base while I was trying to remove it. There was a lot of great suggestions unfortunately the threads may be damaged and I was not able to get it out. I am hoping someone knows the steps to take to remove the Antenna base as the replacement part appears to only be about 32$. I did check with the dealerships the lowest priced one was 300$ which is not in my budget. Hoping if anyone has experience or any diagrams or steps for removal it would be much appreciated.

Here was my original thread

No experience on this truck. You should have a backing nut and washer under fender. It may require removal of cowling.

Pop the hood. Look into the fender where the antenna is. You will see 2, 5.5mm screws that are attached to the antenna base, remove them. Then gently pull the base of the antenna from the fender. The cable may be attached and not removable. It should go through the fender down behind your glove box.

Remove the bottom 3-4, 5.5 mm screws on the wheel well and you should see the rubber grommet with its cable. Pry bak the rubber grommet and peel it from the inner fender. Lastly, you will need to disconnect the cable from behind the glove box. Now you can pull the antenna base and its cable from the fender.

2k12 thanks for the information. I looked behind the glove and can see where it goes so from that side looks straight forward. as for the wheel well liner I removed the 5.5 mm screws but looks like there might be a couple of push pings still holding it in. Not sure if anyone has any experience removing this. Only concern is if I pull it out will it be easy to line up and put back in. Based on what I see so far I am going to order the part and see how it goes.

I wouldn't remove it, just push it out of the way to access the panel. The wheel liner is molded and I don't see it tearing at all. Its pretty tough.

Its pretty simple remove the wheel well liner to access the base. Theres 2 bolts that hold it to the cab. Then remove your glove box and there will be a disconnect on the blower motor. Disconnect it there the biggest pain is getting to the plastic tab that holds it on the side of the blower motor up against the firewall. Then you can pull it out through the wheel well.
