Android Auto Update
Mine showed up finally, they must be finally pushing it out. I had tried the same steps that had worke for other multiple times, and nothing. Randomly checked it again, there it was.
I like the new interface, toggling between the two thing I use most is much easier, with less looking at the screen. Dark mode is a nice add as well. I'm not sure how much I'll use the assisted functions like weather, since I did all that before with voice commands, but my wife can from the co-pilot seat.

Mine did show up after a couple days and I used it quite a bit during some long drives the past two days.
It was flaky as heck. It was actually stuck for a while, where the bottom buttons would disappear leaving me unable to do anything but look at the map until I hit the Sync Media button to change sources. I also hit the news app which started acting like a damn virus on my phone because I couldn't stop it from popping up. Eventually it settled down. It's pretty slow starting up, does not start automatically despite being set to do so, is pretty slow in general, and parts randomly stop working like voice control or even trying to hang up a call. I had to restart it several times over the course of 9 or so hours of driving to get stuff working again.
Hard to believe it took them this long to release this pile of trash. If they get the bugs out it will be OK. It looks nice. But right now it's pretty terrible.
I have a Moto X4 running Android 9.

As of today the new UI was finally enabled for my phone. I didn't have to do any special steps, must have finally been my time. So far so good, the new interface is much better than the old. I might actually use it more now.
Android Auto sucked before this update, and it still sucks after this update. Between the cartoon icons of yesterday and the fact that you need to tether the phone to get all feature, it's too much of a PITA for me to be bothered with it. And Waze blows.
It's actually good that you posted that. Along with the myriad of selections to turn on, I wouldn't have thought to have folks check the USB setting on their phone's.
