Android Auto Update
I got the update on June 24th, and can't get the try new AA. I've uninstalled/reinstalled a few times, but all it does is remove the "update". I think this might have to do with my Pixel 3XL shipping with it as a default app?
I love the pictures of the *new* interface, just wish I'd see them on the 8in display.

Settings-> Apps -> Android Auto -> In-app notification settings. Under General the first option is "Try the new Android Auto" toggle.
I turned it on then went out to my truck and started it. I turned on Bluetooth then plugged it into the USB. It opens Google Maps by default and doesn't show much of a difference, but when you exit google maps on the truck display it brings you to the new icons and apps.

Just in case it makes a difference. For those of you that have the latest version, but are not seeing the new style, after you clear the data and cache in your AA app you have to make sure to "Force Stop" the app. When you start the app back up on your phone you should have to give it all the permissions like you did with the original version.
Good luck!
Good luck!
Also delete Sync from AA's setting of connected cars.
Even though I deleted the app and 'deleted the storage' before I deleted it. Sync remained on the app's memory.
I recommend not changing the name from Sync. I only changed its name to highlight it.
If it still wants to start then reverts back, delete the phone from sync and start with a complete clean slate.
I also recommend the best charging/data cable, preferably the factory one even if you charge wirelessly.
That was another of the three steps it took me.

Found that out when I went back for another try. Had to USB hook it up. Expected Bluetooth would work, oh well. Have to experiment more before calling for help again! Thanks for the lead. BTW, version 4.5.592854 was only released Jun 24 2019. But you probably already know that :-)
