Default Android Auto available when?

I heard the anouncement recently but no dates have been made. Just excited to be able to use my phone navigation.

Anyone hear anything new about this coming out in sync 3 updates?

I'm guessing, from what I've read, that it'll be near the end of this year or early next. I didn't order my truck with NAV because I heard this was coming, and prefer Google Maps.

I believe there are "software updates" that may need to happen (paid) to get this functionality (as well as full-on car play). later this year.

I hope they don't charge for the update. From the way it was initially presented, they made it sound like it was a new feature for the 2016 trucks, not that it was an optional update that you could pay for.

In North America, Ford is making Apple CarPlay and Android Auto available on all 2017 vehicles equipped with SYNC 3, starting with the all-new Ford Escape. Owners of 2016 vehicles equipped with SYNC 3 will have an opportunity to upgrade later in the year.

Uhhh, which year? It says 2016 owners will be able to update later in the year, but doesn't specify if it's saying THIS year, or 2017.

Well, I'm just going to wait.
Sync 3 is a pricey upgrade, and I'm not going to buy, then have a pricey software upgrade a few months later.
