Android Auto available when?
If you dont have sync 3, then you have to upgrade the system to sync 3. All the fancy new features will only be available through sync 3 system i believe. I would wait till it actually comes out and decide then.... dont go upgrading yet.
I just put SYNC3 in my 2016 Explorer (those still come with MFT/SYNC2). I didn't pay $2k but then again I have the equipment to mess with the programming of it. Since there is no Explorer that has SYNC3 the programming is an educated guess.
Doing the programming of SYNC3 to fit a 2015 F150 would be much easier since the 16s come with SYNC3.
The reason I decided to try it was because I couldn't pass up the price of the unit I picked up.
So the proper thing to say is Ford doesn't officially support changing out to SYNC3.

I wasn't talking about paying 2k. Find a used one and send it to me for programming. Also no one should have the expectation that Ford should offer a free upgrade. The 15's were sold with MFT (SYNC2). Ford has always said upgrading won't be supported. If your salesman/dealer told you otherwise, that was an outright LIE.
