Default Adding USB-C

So I saw mention in the Sync 3.4 thread about adding the new 2020 USB-C interface module to older f-150 but there were not too many details in there.

I'm wondering, I have a 2019 Lariat.

Is adding the USB-C interface plug and play as long as I have sync 3.4 which I have?

Will it actually give the benefits of USB 3.1 type C as in being able to deliver more power for faster charging etc?

So this was only officially supported as of 2020?

Was hoping maybe 2019's may have gotten the APIM update

Look in the thread about the SYNC 3.4 update. They have part numbers and software updates.

Some people have done it on the Raptor forum. Here's the link to the post and one comment someone posted>

"A couple things that could be better: 1. Wish there was a module out there with two type-c plugs instead of one. 2. Even though my pixel 3 XL says it's charging rapidly when plugged into the type-c outlet, it definitely isn't. It charges at the standard rate, not a huge deal but wish it did rapid charge."

Been there, very limited info in that thread. That's what made me make this thread.

Thanks!

Looking like it may not really be worth it at the moment if it doesnt' add quick charge, maybe some day when the modules get much cheaper just to be a bit more future proof.
I like the mod they did in the raptor forum by replacing a 12v socket with a usb-c socket though, that sounds like it might be worth $20

How about a tiny charger that barely sticks out of the 12v socket?

Has anyone found a charger that replaces the 12v socket? I have used several of the tiny chargers but they slide out of the 12v socket.

I tried this one (Aukey) and it did not work on either the front and rear lighter sockets on my 2016 F-150.
