This one is in my dash 12v charger port and hasn't moved. It's small enough the little door shuts right over it.

I know this is an old thread but now I'm curious. If you have Sync 3.4 and Forescan though could you enable fast charging? And is this plug and play? Looks like it is....

I never moved forward with it. The factory USB part is like $150, and for WAY cheaper I picked up some high watt USB-C 12v adapters and am utilizing the center console port and some creative wiring. It’s gotten me what I want for much cheaper.

I do the same. I have a couple Anker 12V adapters that fast charge. One's always plugged into the console outlet with a couple cords run out the notches in the console lid designed for them. The other can be plugged into the dash or console rear as needed.

I did this instead. The drawback is you have to run a power and ground, but gives a USB C charge port. I've got a 2018 XLT, and don't have the option of adding the factory USB hub either. The nice thing about these, they are pretty small and barely noticeable. But it does give me what I wanted.

Out of curiosity, does a USB-C charging point really matter? I just "upgraded" my iPhone and of course it's USB-C. I simply bought a USB-A to USB-C cable and leave it in the truck so that I can still use CarPlay. Is there a reason I need an actual USB-C port other than faster charging (which is not an issue for me)?

In our trucks, no. Just to accommodate newer devices that come with USB-C to USB-C cables.

I just ended up buying a "flush" PD/QC 3.0 12 adapter that had USB-C and old USBA... Been working fine, I run wireless Android Auto via AA Wireless adapter.

as has already been said, no. I did it to fix one of the things Ford cheapened out on, did it for the ice blue illuminated rings around the ports.
