I like the price of the ones in the video, however it does clearly say in the description that they do NOT include the temp sensor in the passenger side one.

Is this something that can be taken out of the original and used in the aftermarket easily?

ETA: I have a 2017 XL, if that matters.

I have added the spot light controls (drivers vent) and the module, for future use of course. In several of these posts about the functionality of the mirrors, they all tend to say that the door modules need to also be changed out. You are the first to say just change the harness. This is what I was thinking myself, especially when you go into Forscan and all of the options to turn these features on and off are already built into the existing modules.
So if I purchase a 2019 Lariat harnesses I should be good to go? Do you still have the part numbers for the harnesses that worked?
Any success in swapping out the harness?

For those with the STX. Did you have the rear defrost option on your original mirrors?
I've toyed with the idea to add towing mirrors but my TT is a thinner model and the standard mirrors are adaquate and almost as big as the upper section of the tow mirrors. Thro in the wind noise complaints, cost and I decided against.
But, getting defrost glass and the reference on how to get rid of wind noise re-peaked my interest.

I am new to this forum. I had a few questions on installing tow mirrors on a new truck I am looking at. the truck is a 2020 XLT with standard mirrors with turn signals.

I wanted to know if I buy the tow mirrors with the turn signals and spotlights will they both work?
I believe turn signals will not be ab issue however I was wondering if the spotlights will work? I keep reading mixed reviews on this part.

Can anyone chime in and let me know if they replaced mirrors on an XLT and what worked on these mirrors and what didn't.
I also want to ask what does the Temp Sensor in the right mirror do?

If you don’t already have spotlights it will not work. The mirrors I added have more features than what my truck currently has and they do not work. (Marker lights and puddle lamp) that’s not to say you couldn’t wire them in to work. I believe there is a thread on here that a guy added spotlights to his truck.

Anyone have recomendations on reputable aftermarket tow mirrors? Trail ridge with lifetime warranty for my 08 were affordable but seem overpriced for the 2015-17 years for some reason.

You'd need to get the switches, the drivers a/c bezel, the spotlight module, lariat door harnesses and new door modules and activate it all in forscan. You'd also pick up the marker light and puddle light functions in the process which is nice. Here's a video of doing everything including power fold and extend but most of it still applies, he also links the forscan info and a write up detailing it in the description

My truck came with the power glass and heat only with the 8 pin connectors. I was looking at potentially using the boost auto parts 8 to 22 pin harnesses to get the marker lights on my tow mirrors to work but might just go full hog and do it all.

Thanks for the responses. I was hoping to not have to do all the rewiring for the spot lights. Now have to decide if they are worth it or not.

its only about $250 extra and it doesn’t have to be done immediately. I honestly don’t ever use the spot lights but the puddle light functionality it nice to have.

Ryandoubleu, I ordered 17696BA today. Do you need the lariat door module for the spots and puddles or just the lariat harness? Thanks
