Hey guys I've been so busy this week I haven't had time to check on that connector, but after going back through this thread I found a couple of more questions...

1. Doug you said you went with the FOR-11CK harness. Is this only needed if adding an aftermarket amp?
a. Is the FOR-11CK necessary for the Kicker hideway?
2. I don't think i got whether or not I would need to enable it in Forscan?

Hopefully I can look at all of that tonight.

Thanks!

its really a no splice harness .. so its great for adding a sub.. adding a dsp .. adding amps .. it allows you to break apart the signal going from the radio to the speakers .. so you can take the signal from the radio then manipulate it going back to the speakers .. any which way you want.. if its only to cross over .. equalize or amplify .. or if you want to get that full range signal and use it for a sub amp

no forscan changes needed with the harness

Doug, I'm really sorry to keep asking you questions and I feel like an idiot, but I've been reading so much about doing this my head is spinning at this point.

So if you use the FOR-11CK, is the WPT1212 connector necessary?
Is the WPT just going from the sub to the connector behind the rear pane?
What gets wired into the FOR-11CK harness?
DSP?
You've been so great with answers I really appreciate it!

its no problem .. that's why we are all here

the WPT1212 is the harness that connects to the sub connector .. if you are only adding a sub and the plug is live then that's all you will need.

the FOR-11CK harness its a no cut harness that allows you access to the radio outputs and speaker inputs .. back in the day people would splice into factory wiring and you would buy a car/truck with hacked wiring.. this harness prevents doing that.

so in a situation where you are only adding a sub with the For-11CK harness .. you want to connect the radio inputs of the harness with the radio outputs of the harness .. that way the harness is behaving as if you didn't change the factory wiring.. then you would tap into the front L/R channels of the harness with another set of wires and run that back to your amp/dsp/loc

in a situation where you are using a DSP and amp.. you would take the output of the radio side of harness and connect that to the input of the DSP .. the output of the DSP would go to your amp .. and the output of the amp would go back to the input side of the harness going to your speakers

Alright, it sounds like my first step is to check and see if I have the connector on WPT connector on my truck .

I sent Bruce with HuschCarAudio a pm and asked about his harnesses, but do you know if his harness runs all the way to the back to where the sub would be mounted? I was reading through the thread you linked and from what I gathered that is the case.

Thanks again!

yes check for the connector .. if its there then enable it in forscan to see if its live

Bruce is super flexible and will tailor the harness to your needs. I personally would get the harness as long as possible to get to the rear even if you are only doing it to the front initially .. its better to have too much wire and hide it than have it too small and need to expand
