I've been looking into adding a subwoofer to my 2019 STX. I have narrowed it down the the Kicker VSS setup or the Kicker 10" Hideaway. I've tried researching through all the forums and still have not been able to find the answer I'm looking for to these 2 questions.
1. Does the STX have the factory installed plug behind the seat for the VSS?
2. Does either system require Forscan to enable the subwoofer? (Tech Support from Crutchfield says the Hideaway system does not need Forscan.)
some do and some don't .. we were trying to narrow it down to Sat radio but its still hit or miss.... I had the plug and I bought the harness and tried every option in Forscan but nothing for me .. i ended up going with the FOR-11CK harness

I have sat radio in mine. Where should I look for the plug?
I think you've covered it. I would verify that your truck has the harness first. Just pull the weatherstripping back on the rear drivers side and peek between the side trim and the body. You should see the harness. I'd also make sure you have room behind the seat. Mine is a super crew so I can't say if it fits in a crew cab. I've attached some pics.
This is the harness
Harness again
Sear folded up and locked. No interferance from the sub at all
There it is hiding behind the seat. Pic taken from under the rer seat with it folded up.
Back of rear seat folded down. Plenty of room for this little guy back there.
Thanks Doug!
If I don't have the connector can the subwoofer still be wired in and work?
you can but i think it might be a little tricker getting back there .. also note that the voltage on the connector is 5v .. so it can't power most LOC's or amp's .. so likely you will only be using the sound output from the connector
The factory plug has the following:
Orange/red = power
Black/violet = ground
Brown = remote turn on/clip detect
Violet = speaker + Connet both positive wires have your RCA’s here
Green = speaker - Connect both negative wires of your RCA’s here
Black = speaker shielding
If you are using the 1212 harness with the wires facing toward you and the clip at the top that secures into the factory harness:
top left black wire is positive - goes to orange red on factory side
top right is a ground wire or negative - Black violet on factory side
bottom left is the remote turn on - Brown on factory side
bottom second on the left is the line level positive - Violet on factory side
bottom third right is the line level negative - Green on factory side
you don’t use any other wires.
I owe you guys a schematic, here you go. This should work for any sub amp you're going to power directly from the battery.
I used shielded audio wire for the RCAs to keep the noise down. You do NOT connect the shield at the RCAs. That will create a ground loop. The SUB- goes to the RCA outside. Also, try to minimize the unshielded wire length at the plug. Mine wound up being a little over 2".
