Adding options not originally installed
Has anyone ever added additional equipment after picking up there truck? As in an option or accessory that is available that didn't come with the truck on the lot.
For example I've got the 2015 XLT with 302A package and also the trailer tow package. My truck came with the standards mirrors but I'm considering going to the dealership to see if they can install the tow mirrors (not the plain ones, but the ones that still have heat, turn signals and spot lights).
Or having them install the intergrated trailer brake controller.
I know we all want that perfect truck from the lot but if anyone has added options after the fact, please let me know what it was.

I added the hitch, 7-pin trailer connector, trailer brake controller, and tow mirrors. My truck is a 300A that came with the bare bones standard mirrors, which meant that I needed to rewire my entire front doors in order to connect to the tow mirrors. Physically installing the mirrors is easy - pop off the triangular trim panel on the inside of your doors, unplug the connector, and remove the nuts holding the mirror on. Reverse the process with the new mirror. If you have the 22-pin plugs from the factory, you won't need to rewire your doors to retain the same features you already have.
While it was great learning the inner workings of my vehicle, in the future I'll probably opt for factory options over aftermarket/post-delivery installs. Options are generally cheaper from the factory. The cash I used to add the tow mirrors and wiring harnesses could have covered the difference in payments on a 302A truck with factory tow mirrors for 6 months or more. I could have bought a nicely equipped truck and I wouldn't have had to rip my doors apart.

Adding the intergrated trailer brake controller is probably the easiest and cheapest add-on you can do.

I see rebates on the XLTs all the time which put them pretty close in price. In fact I was at the local dealership yesterday and one of the sales guys managed to get someone into an XLT for about the same money as the XL they asked for. Or so that's what I overheard anyway. We might be talking about a "loaded" XL vs. a stripped down "XLT". I don't know.
