Default Trailer Brake Controller Install for 2015

Apparently the search engine is down because I tried searching on two different browsers and on my Ipad and I keep getting a database SQL error, so with that said I'm going to start a thread since search is not working ATM.

I have a 2015 f150 and it came with the trailer tow package. My trailer has electric brakes and I couldnt find a truck locally that had the max to package. So I ordered the brake controller from lombard ford accessories for $116 vs $250 what my local dealer wanted to charge me for just the controller. Figured I can install it myself, so I did some searching around online and all I can find is install videos or tutorials for 2011-2014 models. Does anyone have a DIY tutorial or a youtube video created on how to install the brake controller for the 2015 f150's yet? I'll save on labor then drop it off and get it activated.

Question about activation once installed. I have a LET tune installed with the sct x4 tuner, should I unmarry the tuner from my truck before they do the update or just flash back to stock and keep it married or not worry about the tune at all? I'm assuming unmarry it so when I reinstall it and marry it back to the ECU, i'll pull the most current and recent data since they'll be reflashing it to activate the trailer brake controller?

Thanks for the info!

Eric

I read something here that was basically pull off the panel, and the wires will be tucked behind since you have the tow package, plug in and snap the new panel back in place.

I'd send it to the dealer with the stock tune, and then put the tuner back on once it's back from the dealer.

The dash basically pops apart. The harness will be plugged into the back of the pocket that comes in place of the brake controller. I would return to stock as they can always flash other updates to the truck when in for the brake controller that might mess with a tune.

Sorry I didn't see this before. So I don't need any tools (aside from a pry) to remove the controller?

I think you need a 10mm and an 8mm socket to get access but I can't remember 100%. It's really easy once you pull down the panel under the steering wheel and see everything.

Love to find directions to pull the dash apart. I have the part but I'm nervous about pulling dash apart.

For the panel below the steering wheel all you do is pull on it at the top by the steering wheel and it pops out. It is attached at the bottom so it folds down. The rest is easy from there. Mostly clips and a few 7/8/10mm bolts.

Thanks for the replies!
Someone needs to create a video or a DIY tutorial for the 2015. My brake controller just shipped so I wont get it installed until next week.

Maybe I'm some kind of idiot, but my interior is in pieces and I can't get it back together. Does anyone have pictures or something? I'm so pissed at myself!
