Default AC Performance

Live in Phoenix and the temp today registered 120F on my 1 hr commute home. The AC did awesome in my 2018. I was able to hold a conference call all the way home using Bluetooth. Just wanted to share a good experience in a very hot environment.

Good news. It was 109 the other day here in Dallas and mine was struggling to keep up. We had both front seats on max cool and the AC on Lo / Max AC and I would guesstimate it was hovering around 70 degrees. Not complaining, it was freaking hot. It didn't help that we weren't on the highway. A lot of stop and go/short trips. It was maybe 100 today and all was well.

My 17 has done fine the past week here in Dallas. Mine is garaged, so that may be different than your situation...and I do look for shaded spots even if I have to hoof it a little further.

Of course, we have more humidity than the OP, which makes a difference.

Humidity is more of a challenge to A/C systems than temperature. The system has to remove moisture from the air before it can lower temperature.

And I agree the A/C in my '16 F-150 blows ice cubes. I live in the hot and humid south and the A/C in the truck handles it with ease.

My 2018 is very good (better than my 2016), but good window tint (3M Crystalline on all windows plus windshield) makes a HUUUUGE difference.

I think my truck was more willing to go out today than I was.

Humidity is killer. My AC is on Low with fan speed midway and vented seats maxed out.

My 2018 F150 AC performed the same as my 2016 F150, which is descent. However, we have a 2017 Explorer and it’s blows my F150 out the water.

Mine is garaged as well, but it's probably 95 in the garage. I think my problem was I was constantly in the sun and we weren't keeping the engine running long enough to cool the vehicle. Any other time so far and I've been fine. I set it to Lo for about 5 minutes then bump it up to about 73 which is where I like it. My house stays at 74-75 even when its this hot out.

My 16 overall does a great job with the AC.

Here in STL it is routinely in the upper 90's and sunny, and very humid.

now.. when I FIRST start it up, the AC doesn't blow very cold... but it doesn't take it but 2 or 3 minutes to really start pumping out the cool stuff - - after a while, I'll end up turning down the fan, or up the temp, as my right arm will get cold. (I wish the vent let you direct the air just a little bit more away from my arm.

Reminds me of my 72 LDT Landau I used to have, that when full out, would blow ice frost, like snow, out of the air vents.
