Default 3.73 locking diff

under what conditions or situations do you guys like to use your locking diff? I haven't even tried mine. I'm thinking if you get stuck maybe? Not sure, but I think I read in manual that it disengages at a fairly low mph, or shouldn't be run at high speeds? thad leave racing out, lol!??? thanx.

P.S. I don't like to abuse a vehicle, but I got a egomaniac buddy with a newer 5.3 chevy 4x4 that taunts a bumper to bumper hook up, lol.

Off road use only or if there's poor traction I guess (snow ice ect.). And dude, do not do a tug of war with your fanboy friend. They prove nothing and you could cause damage to each other's truck.

Better yet here's a good YouTube video on why tug of wars are dumb.

Just remind him that tires are round and his wheel wells are square, then walk away. Tug-of-wars are stupid and prove nothing.

I only use it when 4x4 isn't enough, essentially a last resort.

You can just run the locker, but you run into the risk of still slipping your tires and depending on your terrain that could slash them or damage the axle shafts/u joints if any hop happens.

havent used it on my new truck but in the past have used it to get boats out of the water from a step incline where basically my back tires were in the water.

I have only used my locking diff once so far and that was to help pull some small tree stumps out of the ground.
