2.7 being the best-selling engine makes sense that there's more of them for sale used, because there's just more of them period.

Thanks I was about to look that up first.

I suspect the 2.7 is the most popular choice overall today and incidentally was the version I got as well. I don't have anything big and or flat to tow so I didn't need the other engines. I've loved the 2.7L so far and would happily recommend it provided you don't have large toys to tow. And by that I mean more than 5000 lbs of toy to tow. IE a bigger tractor, or set of lawn equipment or big boat or a slab box of a travel trailer. Not saying it's not capable of doing some of those things but it's not the engine I would pick if my goal was to tow stuff regularly.

Filling up the bed is a different matter. I have crap in the back of mine all the time atleast weekly. box full of mulch - it don't care. 2 pallets of sod - it don't care. pallet of river stone - didn't care. you get the idea.

And I have the 2wd sport model with the 3.15 gear. wished I had gotten the 3.31 with elocker.

I routinely tow over 7000 lbs so it was an easy choice to get the 3.5 ECO in my 17 Lariat. If I didn't tow those kind of weights it would have been a tougher choice. I honestly could not care less about the differences in gas mileage or demanding a certain type of engine noise. Own other high performance vehicles when I need to drive something loud and very fast so that didn't enter into my engine choice.

Don't think you can really go wrong with any of the available engine choices for our F150's................
