Default 2020 vs. 2019 F150

Hello I'm currently looking at two pretty identical Lariat 500A packages with the 2.7. The 2019 is priced $700 under the 2020. Any differences to note? Any real reason to spend the extra money on the 2020? Thanks.

I bought a (new) 2019 XLT for $4450.00 cheaper than an "almost" identical 2020. For me, a no brainer. For (only) $700.00 difference on a more expensive truck, I'd probably go for the 2020. I'd make up the $4450.00 XLT depreciation in a year or so. Probably make it up the day I drove it off the lot. $700.00 on the lariat, would take a lot longer. I'd go with the 2020 for only $700.00 difference.
As an aside, I see 2019 Lariats in my area discounted off the bottom blue box MSRP 9K, 2020's maybe 5K or so.

If trucks are identical, the decision boils down to 2 questions. First, is the depreciation for one year more than $700? I can almost blindly say YES, although I couldn't tell you how much. My guess is at least 2 grand, but some research could give you a better guess. So the second question is if you have the finances to pay for the extra $700. If yes, that'd be my choice, especially if you don't plan to keep the truck a ton of years. Good luck.

2020 Lariat 500A comes standard with Ford Co-Pilot360. BLIS and lane keeping alone might be worth $700 to you.

The spread should be way more than $700 per model year if the trucks are actually identical. I would pay the $700 for the newer model year. Now if the 19 was discounted $5k I would be all over that.

Thanks for the replies, they are both very helpful. One thing I didn't mention was the 2020 is an additional 3 hours away (I live in Maine where the dealers are very spread out) and I have reasons for preferring a more "local" dealer. Also, for some reason the 2019 actually has an MSRP of $1,000 more than the 2020 (strange enough). My current truck is pushing 15 years old, and hope to get the same amount of life out of this one so depreciation is not much of an issue. I was just wondering if there are any significant improvements for the 2020 that I'm not aware of.

Yeah people say that (and you would think), but I have yet to see huge discounts like that. Maybe I'm just not pushing hard enough.

Yeah now that I look at it, doesn't appear to be on the 2019. Not worth $700 to me, but certainly something to note! I'm just confused why the MSRP is higher on the 2019. I'm sure I'm overlooking something, but so far don't see anything it has over the 2020. Would being in a different region affect that?

My 19 had $5k off that the 20s didn’t have Back in Feb when I bought mine. The 19 must have something on the window stick that’s different that makes the MSRP $1000 more. You can get the window stickers if you have the VIN off Fords website and go line by line to find out what is different.
