12th generation truck, But 11-14 is the 1st generation Coyote. 15-17 was the second gen, 2018 is the 3rd gen Coyote.

2018 has all new drivetrain, and other major features, hense it's a different generation than 2015 - 2017 5.0L generation, or the previous 2011 - 2014 5.0L
generation.

I give up.
Why? You guys are talking about two different things. You, the whole truck. He, the engine.

Tell me, though: Why do the pre-'15 steel fenders and hood (and cab doors, minus the rear corners on the rear doors' window opening) look to be the same stampings as the '15+ aluminum bits? There was no real design change, there... so your assertion that the '15+ was a complete design change isn't exactly on the mark...

Agree, remember the Chevy Vega? Aluminum bores with a coating that just didn't work out. I'm sure that technology has advanced since then but hard steel rings against a soft aluminum bore with only a few microns of coating to separate the 2 doesn't seem worth the risk. Time will tell.

I was going to order a 18 XLT se sport 5.0 373.I'm now considering a leftover 17 lariat 501a 5.0 373 with town mirrors and twin panel moon roof for about the same price. I think ford screwed the pooch on this.
Another thing is you can hardly hear the sweet sounding V8 on the 18,it's way quieter.
Thtats exactly the problem with excessive amount of gears in an automatic, Its constantly changing gears and it takes time to change down 3-4 gears to accelerate. I drove both too and my 15/3.55/6 speed felt much nicer then the 18/3.31/10 speed/

That by itself would be enough for me to never buy an 18

Every gas vehicle in the US is going to have start stop in it by 2020. Hope you don't drive too many miles to keep what you have going.

The Ford technology to spray line has been around since the GT500 program and has continued in the GT350 as well as many others using similar or licensed variants. Nissan GTR is another 500HP user.

That technology wouldn't keep me awake at night.
