Notice how with the 3.15, second gear can hit 60mph?!! Under hard acceleration, the advantage goes to using the engines entire torque curve for a longer period in 2nd. That means in 1st and second gear, the 3.15 with the 10 speed is almost equivalent to the 3.55 with the 6 speed...... so therefore the 3.73 with the 10 speed is geared way to low... Accelerate hard and by the time you hit 60mph, you are already well into 3rd gear....this is why it is and will feel slower
Yeah no problem. 3.73's on the 10 speed will only be for heavy towing, so heavy that you should have bought an f250 tbh.

I dunno tbh. I figure just leaving it in tow or sport solves locking gears anyways. on the 10 speed mine stays in 6th max until like 65+ when in sport.

Can we get a volunteer with a 2018 5.0 to line up side by side with this guy? I just drove a 2018 5.0 with 3.73's, and I have no idea what the original poster is talking about. I want to see how many truck lengths it puts on a 2011-17 5.0 from 0-100.

Over in the drag racing forum another member went 13.33 @ 104 mph in a box stock 2018 RCSB F-150 with the 5.0 and 10-speed. That's cookin', and a good bit faster than the stock 6R80-equipped 5.0 trucks--for what it's worth.

There is a Utube video of a F150 6sp and F150 10 spd each same engines, gears, towing same weighted trailers . They start off on flat then go right into an incline hill. When the 10 spd reaches the top of the hill he's one entire truck and enclosed trailer ahead of the 6 spd tranny. I'm not good enough with a computer to post it here.

Get the 2017. The new chemical cylinder coating on the 2018 v8's as opposed to metal sleeves on the 2017's is unproven over the long run and problems abound with the 10 speed transmission - many held back from dealers after production.

Default Not about the transmission

That wasn’t so much about the transmission as the generation 1 vs. Generation 2 ecoboost engine. With an extra 50 ft/lbs of torque, I would have thought the difference should have been significantly more.
