I'm an IDIOT. I was talking crap about Microsoft who did the Sync and Sync 2 which is crap when BlackBerry, the dead company that no one respects or believes in because they refused to leave 1990, makes your sync 3.
Either way, still a s*** product. We can argue all day on this but that's my opinion and I am sure you have yours
How can you say something's **** when you haven't even experienced it? Sync 3 is an intuitive, easy to use, responsive and advanced system that has massive capability and makes huge ease-of-use strides over the absolutely abysmal MFT system.
My truck that I ordered just arrived at the dealer yesterday and I looked at the sync 3 and it shows ver2. My buddy just got his truck about a month or so ago (he factory ordered his also, so it's not a early 2016 build) and it has ver1. He tried to update but nothing came up. Also on mine there was an android auto button but I haven't got the chance to play with it yet as I don't have my truck. I got this picture when I was looking at my truck on the lot.

Looks like you got updated maps also!!! Version 15. My 2016 F150 that I've only had for a few months has version 14. So Ford is updating the software mid model year... it will make me even angrier now if they don't offer existing 2016 owners a free map update (to 2015 map version...)... and get the Ver 2 sync software update out to us all... I wonder if your 2016 vehicle also has the updated USB hardware that we are hearing CarPlay will need...
I have a '16 with Sync3 and love it. It's fast and responsive, uncluttered, intuitive to use, has all the features and more that I might expect, is upgradable over my home WIFI network, reads texts to me, integrates with Siri... I think they did a great job.
This is my first experience with Sync 3 and I have to agree! I've been pleased so far. I am really looking forward to the update that will bring Android Auto!!
I've been waiting for an answer to issues I have with Sync 3 working with owner.ford. Every time I ask them for a status report, I get "it's being looked into". 3 dealers have told me that is Ford support speak for "don't bother us". My next call will be a complaint to investor relations.
