Smile 2017 10 Speed problems

I have been getting very clunky awkward shifting on my f150, it has just over 2k miles on it. When I accelerate slowly I feel the truck jerk as it shifts occasionally.

When I am coming to a stop I also feel the tranny shift down to as the speed gets slower.

Also, when I shift to reverse, there is a good 2-3 second delay followed by one or two clunks. I thought this may be different but I wasn't sure.

One last thing, I was in start stop in drive, and shifted the truck into reverse after the engine had started, and the whole truck shimmied and engine nearly stalled, it felt awful.

I am planning to make an appointment with my local dealer and was wondering perhaps there may be a TSB for the issues?

Im not hear to complain, I love the truck and ford as a brand. Perhaps someone has knowledge on this. I hope it can be fixed....

Thanks!

This doesn't sound like it's much of a problem, IMO. I think all of these are a result of the electronically controlled transmission.

If I accelerate slowly from a stop, it seems to wind up pretty high in 1st and jump to 3rd. It's not harsh, but it gives a bit of a kick.

I have found that the shift from Fwd to Rev does not happen extremely fast, probably because of the electronically controlled shifting. I have a habit of shifting into neutral while rolling and then into reverse just before coming to a stop. I have found this causes a bit of a jitter in the driveline. I need to break the habit. Even if I do come to a complete stop, it does take a second to kick in.

If I jump in the truck, start it up, then immediately shift, I get a jitter too. Same as if I'm sitting at a light and the auto start stop has the engine off, if I jump from the brake to the gas too quick, it will jitter for a second because it's still in the start cycle. I have learned to let my foot off the brake a little earlier to give it the time it needs to get the engine running again before hitting the gas.

Mine seems smooth enough overall, but it takes FOREVER to downshift when I hammer it. It almost got me in trouble a couple times when I needed it to move quickly and did not.

I have a 2018 on order. I will be adding a 5Star tow tune to mine once I hit 5000 miles or so. The 5* tune on my 2011 made a huge difference with shift quality, and I'd expect they will develop solid shift strategies for the 10 speed too. BTW, over 100k tuned miles on my 2011 w/o issues. Unless you consider more power and better shifting an issue.

10 speed doesn't belong in a truck. why couldn't they left it alone with the 6-speed.

My 6-speed '17 shifts flawlessly.

Good point, 10 speeds isn't enough for a real truck.

But it'll do.
