Dealer has no idea, Ford has no idea... Days counted down to 0, now no days are shown, it's been sitting in Dearborn for 2 weeks now and nobody can tell me what is happening.

If I don't get an answer by this Friday, I am cancelling my order, at which point I will probably start my decision process over again, and there is a good chance Ford will lose my business. Unless they can tell me when it will arrive.

I understand custom orders take time, but I won't wait if there is no actual information on what is going on - and I won't accept "Probably 8 weeks more" or "2-4 weeks" -- is it 2 or is it 4?

Your DORA posted 3/16, so presume you ordered on or before that date. I'm in Colorado where dealer stated 6~8 weeks from order to delivery estimate, might be more for out of country for all I know.

Now I'm as impatient as the next guy on this forum, but canceling in 5th week? Yes, you should have an update, but your delivery ranges - assuming same as mine - are April 27 to March 11.

Frustration is one thing and something I share considering how much better this process could be, but backing out due to lack of an update that was never promised while still within proper time frames is different altogether.

IMO, your loss if you cancel.

Ping: Yes I was told it could be 6 originally. However I was told now it could be 2-4 additional weeks, and when I ask "What did you hear that gave you that range" and their answer was "Oh nothing, just a guess"

I'm just impatient, and I don't like it when people give me open ended answers with no future in sight. I am hoping for a trouble free delivery, because if it has to go back for something that wasn't right, it is more wait.

I already sold my existing DD, so i'm driving an old Jeep in the meantime - and that's getting old fast.

I'm actually in same boat as you. I've already sold my other truck and am driving a 97 Explorer with 280,000+ miles on it. I'm greatfull to be in this situation, but this is getting old:
  • no AC
  • doors unlock via key or internal controls only IF they want to and at random
  • almost all seatbelts go to 'locked' state anytime you try to use them
  • knocking sound from front passenger side while accelerating
  • a suspension that will make my chiropractor rich
  • AM radio reception is 80% static, so I can 'almost' hear my morning news stations
  • much much more

On the flip side, I am fortunate enough to receive a custom ordered vehicle - I just need to keep my patience and priorities in check

I was told 8-12 weeks, but sometimes they come quicker.
I ordered 2/25/16, it was built on 4/2/16, and "in transit" on 4/7/16.
Until Saturday it had an ETA of 4/16. Now it doesn't have an ETA.
So who knows where it is or when I will see it.

As much as I would have liked to have my new truck this past weekend, I'm certain I will be driving it on Memorial Day and this wait will be long forgotten.

On the bright side... I get to keep my money a little longer!!

On the other hand, if it takes too much longer I may come to my senses and no longer want to part with so much money for a freakin' truck!!

I was going to be in the same boat and already had everything set up to sell my truck and leave me taking the bus from week four onward. Ended up getting a new job which allowed me to pay an additional few thousand on my '13 so my little sister could afford it. Luckily part of the deal was that I get to keep driving this truck until the new is delivered.

Honestly I was disappointed at hearing 6-8 weeks, but this is a truck. Ordering a new laptop can take three weeks. Just ordered fencing and it is going to be 5 weeks out. Free shipping alone on the tailgate dampener estimated three weeks.

Did you ask for one of those vehicle visibility reports? I would hold off until that week eight before worrying too much. If they still don't have info push for some rebate of some sort. But 8 weeks seems pretty reasonable to me. But then again with exception to extra-ordinary events I buy cars for the long term. My usual DD is my grandpas 86 vanagon with 850k miles, just needs a new motor.

Go ahead and cancel it. It won't affect the dealership as much as it will you. They will sell the truck and it'll be you that's upset when you end up ultimately settling on a truck because you couldn't wait the allotted time for a custom build. Especially when you see someone else driving your truck around town. Way to show 'em!

The good news is when my ETA and days until delivery disappeared for a couple days it was because they were updating the status to 'in transit' so I would think your truck is about to get loaded up if it hasn't already.

Take a xanex, smoke a doob, and let it play out. Your truck will be worth the wait and you'll be glad you did.
