Default 2.7 Payload package - Wrong diff?

Hey everyone, I recently picked up a new truck and I was wondering if you guys could help me out. It's a '18 2.7 fx4 302a with payload package. I was reading on the Ford website that the 2.7 Payload comes with the following:

- 3.73 Locking diff
- 9.75" gearset
- Trailer tow package
- Mechanical parking brake

Today I was under the truck changing my exhaust and noticed that the rear diff looked like the 8.8 and after checking the axle I noticed it said 3.73 8.8 A. I also have the push button parking brake and not the pedal, I assume this is the mechanical parking brake?

So based on the website I am supposed to have a 9.75" but yet I have a 8.8? Is the websites (ford.ca and ford.com) wrong or did I somehow get screwed on axles?

All 18s get the electronic parking brake.

Check your window stick to see if you actually have the 2.7 payload package.

You may only have the optional 3.73s and no payload package. 9.75 comes with the 2.7 PP.

Check the sticker on the drivers B post.

PP had 6900lb GVWR and 3800lb RearGAWR.

Regular is 6500lb GVWR

Well damn I do only have 6500GVWR! Going to have to talk to the dealer.. I told them I wanted the payload package and they said it had it but convinced me the 'tow package' was the payload package..

Can only get the 2.7 payload and 302A in Canada. Not sure where you live but maybe that changes things?

That blows. Dealers are so uninformed on this stuff......or say anything for a sale.

Either way it is wrong

The way I see it, the dealership owes you some money.

That sucks. Looks like they got you if you already took it.

To get the 2.7L Payload Package on an XLT, you can get no higher than the 300A...
