Just did a test trip, about 65 miles round trip with most of it on cruise at 73mph. Mostly flat I29 between Omaha and Missouri Valley, clear evening hardly any breeze. 19.8 on the dash, which I calculated to be about .7 mpg higher than real. So a tad over 19. Supercab 4x4, 3.55 gears, tow package. Had the a/c on but it was only 77 outside so I don't think it was cycling much.

One note. Up to about 70mph the cab is very quiet, but past 70 I definitely start to hear wind noise. So I'm thinking the aerodynamics on this truck are more or less designed to work best at speeds below 70mph? It's possible then than the EPA highway mileage values were obtained at speeds mostly below 70mph. I don't know. I haven't been able to find descriptions of the EPA mileage test cycles they use.

I'll probably do another test in a couple years when I hit 10k and see if things improve. But heck, it's still at least 1mpg better than my 90 inline six truck used to do on the highway on a good day.
Well that's a big difference in speed. 50-55 MPH gets me almost 30 MPG. 60 and up drops a lot. 60 gets me around 23.5-25mpg. Driving at 70+ mph is what I consider bad mileage and I end up with 18-20 MPG. Most of our highways around here have limits of 60 and some are 70. When it's 60, I do 60 on long trips because I love the mileage.

Some of these are very hard to believe... Frankly I am calling some exaggeration bc if one drives "city" that means accelerating and stopping often. Even with start/stop, the constant acceleration will know down mpg. And highway would be 65+. 55 is not "highway". Ok I feel better. Lol

All depends on driving habits, elevation, hills or flat land...tail or head wind.
Driving like an old man I can pull 32 on Chicago non rush hour as going into the city is a slight down slope...same commute home does 28
If I beat the snot out of it or do over 75(hard to do it chicago anytime) that drops to 14 to 16...same road different driving habit.
My avg is 24

Our freeways that run through the city are 50mph. We also have smaller 2-lane highways around that are pretty rough and hilly, and they're also 50mph. They're usually the small secondary highways you take to get to the main highways. They're officially called rural highways. But we also have some major highways that are heavily congested daily, that have been reduced to 50mph, even though there's 4+ lanes in each direction. Too many onramps and offramps.

99% of my driving is interstate/expressway/2 way blacktop and speeds of 58/73 mph. my 3.73 E locker is consitant but probably lower mpg than 3.55 axle or lower but with my hills and winds it is great. 22.3 mpg since new from the manufacture on the cluster and 1200 miles on it. I could be one of the examples of the best possible mileages due to my long trip weekly driving needs, hills/winds and with the 3.73/2.7 L EB package. I'll put a picture of the cluster later with more miles on the truck.

Yup, I think the 2.7 with the 3.73 is a great combo for mileage. I was shocked that a fullsized half ton can get this kind of mileage.
