Default Wrong oil????

okay guys, I changed the oil in my truck today for the first time since i've had it.... the motor has never smoked, knocked, pecked, OR ANYTHING.... I went to advance auto and they was having a big sale going on for labor day weekend.... 5 quarts of Mobile Clean 5000 oil and a purolator classic oil filter for $11.99, so i couldn't pass that up.... I bought 6 quarts of it because they told me my truck took 6 quarts of oil (which it did).... after i got done with changing the oil, i started the truck up to let it idle while i went in the garage and cleaned myself up..... i walked back out, and noticed some odd sound coming from the motor.... it's not quite a ticking, and not quite a knock.... i think its more like a rattle or something.... so i was like, what the (i started cusssing naturally) lol.... is there something that i need to know about not using Mobile oil in a ford engine????? it says underneath the hood that it takes 10w-30 and all advance auto had was 10w-40.... i dont think that would make THAT much of a difference would it??? i checked for maybe a heat shield rattling, and it wasn't it, it's coming from inside the motor..... PLEASE HELP ME OUT BECAUSE IM GOING CRAZY NOT KNOWING WHAT IT IS

Being in Texas, I don't use anything but straight Pennzoil 30W, and I would recommend Pennzoil over anything else.

When you put oil that breaks down gunk and stuff in an older engine, there's a chance that all that gunk and stuff was holding important stuff together, and now it isn't! It shouldn't pose a threat if you figure out what it is fairly quick though, my truck's been knocking for 6k miles and hasn't gotten any worse yet!

I would suggest getting some sort of oil additive from an auto parts store, specifically one that's almost like molassis, which will fill gaps and make the oil a little thicker, and may fix the ticking/knocking/rattle noise. Lucas I think makes something like that, but I would talk to the oldest person working at that particular store and see which brand of it they would recommend. Hope that helps!

UPDATE: I've heard that Mobile Clean 5000 can become rather thin, so for a truck I would definitely put something in to make it a little thicker, that's probably the problem!

the best oil that i have found to run in my truck is called " royal purple" full syn.

it is very expensive like $9.95 a quart, i have used it since my truck was new now i have 225,000 and my truck runs great still no problems.
