Default Windshield Leak / Replacement

I have a 1990 F150 Custom / 4x4 / I-6, 300 truck that has a leaky windshield. I notice that there is a chrome piece of trim around the glass. If this needs to be removed to replace the glass, can it be done without damaging it? If not, will I be able to find the trim somewhere? Last, what is the average cost to replace a windshield for this truck?

Thanks!

Can it be removed without damage? Yes. Can YOU remove it without damage? Probably not.

My 1990 F150 also a windshield leak (top drivers side).

How much doe it cost to have a glass / body shop repair this? I am going to get it fixed, but would like to know what is reasonable cost for this.

I don't need a new windshield, just need it removed and resealed. What is the going rate for this labor?

if yours is "rusting" you need to remove it, pull the windshield out and fix the rust forming on the cab, the trim is stainless steel. you should just be able to polish the rust that has deposited on it off.

Generally runs about 150$ for labor around here but I can get a shop price for just 80$

Default Windshield Trim Removal / Leak

As far as removing the windshield trim it is very easy if you have the right tool. Pic below. You can get at nearly and auto parts store or even in a kit with a couple other trim removal tools from Harbor Freight - either way less than $10.00.
The trim is held in place by spring clips that grab the inside of the trim simply place the tool flat against the glass and at approx. a 45 deg. angle to the trim and slide around until you grab the clip with the point of the tool and lightly pull back to release the clip - trim will pop loose.

For your leak - are you certain it is coming from the glass? I have seen a number of these trucks that appear to be leaking from the upper corners and the leak is actually coming from the body seam / channel above the doors. Stand on the door seal and look at the back side of the drip rail / channel above the door - can you see cracked or missing seam sealer? Try chipping any loose / broken / cracked sealer and refilling with seam sealer - then just brush touch-up with matching paint.
