Default Water Pump

I noticed last week that i had a small leak from the front of my engine. I thought it was the lower hose. Today i look and there is a small hole (factory drilled thing) on the top of the water pump where the water is coming from. i am assuming that this is a good sign that the Water Pump is going bad?
I dont hear any noise coming from it.
I have been having cooling problems lately and have checked everything other that Water Pump and Fan Clutch.

Yeah, it's bad if it's leaking there. You're supposed to change the fan clutch and water pump at the same time.

I have this same problem. All that seems to go wrong though is I'm losing a little coolant and have to fill it periodically. It's on my list of things to do, but does anyone know if this is an urgent fix?

It's a weep hole. The bearings are going bye-bye!

The weep hole is Ford's way of tapping you on the shoulder, heads up. Next, as FSG states, is the smack up side the head/ boot up the *** combo. Think of this as your own personal I.Q. test! We're all waiting for the results!!!

Or a bad sign that the W/P's going good?

Not to thread jack, but how involved is a fan clutch/water pump replace? Everything I look up doesn't make it seem too bad. Also, any special tools I'll need besides the mega-wrench for the fan (which I plan on renting)?

Should not need anything special.

Just be careful around the radiator core - it is easy to hit it with any variety of tools or parts. I usually cut a piece of cardboard that will cover the inside of the core while I am working on things there.

Good luck.

That's a good idea. The fins can be re-straightened, but they're never the same.
