Default Ughh, big problem.

Alright, so now on my truck, i use it for play and work.
Today i just got out of class, drop off the car and im leaving to go to a job site. I pull outta my neighborhood and the truck is running really nice, super smooth. Im sitting at a light maybe .5 miles from the house and it dies. Doesnt restart in Neutral or Park. The batterey is still powering everything. It sounds like the fuel pumps arent priming like they should when the key is in the "On" posistion but not started. Truck wont turn over. just cranks. So im thinking fuel but im open to any of your trouble shooting or suggestions you guys throw out.

I really need the truck back up and running ASAP and dont have alot of extra $$ to throw its way this month.

definitely sounds like a fuel pump, if you turn the key and don't here the "errrrrrrrrr" noise, your pump is shot.

Also may check Fuel Pressure Regulator, but if the first test doesn't pass, that's your culprit! Definitely sounds like a Fuel pump - Craps out when you least expect it, in the most inconvenient time possible. Owned many fords over the years and they all seem to do this. Just glad my valves to rap 24/7 like a chevy and that my oil stays in my engine, not outside my house!

Seriously though my 1995 exploder 4.0 4x4 gave me lots of chit with the fuel pump. It decided to crap out once when I was with a chick I just met at a gas station, just filled 'er up with Premium. Nope, Not starting. Sorry.

Second time was on the way to sell the car. Figures. I bought it back twice now though

The best way to tell is by sound. Have someone else turn the key forward, the pumps will kick on for a few seconds. Get under the drivers side (thats where it is on mine at least) and listen for the inline pump, its pretty loud so you cant miss it. Then if you hear that, pop off your gas cap, have someone turn the key to the on position again while your ear is up to the filler neck.

good news i guess, its not the fuel pumps.

bad news?
The freaking ECU is fried
my mechanic that i usually go to said it had something to do with the wiring for my foglights not being done properly. I dont think thats it because i have had these foglights plus my CB and my backup lights wired all at the same time the same way for over a year. and at this moment, all thats mounted and hooked up are the front fog lights. No CB or backup. It makes no sense to me.

I don't think that would make sense either because if they were installed correctly there should be no connection between the fog lights and the ecu.

There's no way your fog lights could fry the ECU unless you hooked them directly to the ECU. Even if you took power from the ECU power it wouldn't fry it.

They do just go out from time to time. I've changed fried computers on much newer vehicles than yours. Things like voltage spikes can fry it.
