Default Transmission problem ???

This is for a friend of mine . He has a 92 3/4 ton 4 wheel drive. Truck quit moving in all gears so replaced torque converter. Now only have R, first and second. no drive or overdrive Truck also has digital dash which is showing "error 3" . Don't know for sure they are related but pretty much have to be . Thanks for any input here

Have you dropped the pan to change the fluid? Was there anything in the fluid, or was it completely clean?

Fluid was normal (needed changed) without any abnormal metal shavings in it. I have no Idea what "error 3" means . it won"t go away even after leaving battery unhooked for hours .

It may be electrical. Did the code happen at the same time?

Hopefully someone with more tranny experience will chime in before I find something, but I seem to remember a sensor that would throw it into limp mode if it went bad...

Apparently its any of them...lol. Glad I remembered SOMETHING about that. It's a long shot, but maybe the VSS seeing as how the display is out too? Could be a lot of different things. Is the CEL light on? Have you tried pulling codes?

No CEL light no codes , that's why we are stumped . Hopefully a sensor but....where and which one ?? I hate these computer controlled things ! I can figure out the old trucks but I don't have a college degree in computers for this thing lol
