Does the speedometer still work/is it accurate when it's moving? If it has cruise control, does it still work? Does the overdrive light blink? Can you think of anything else, no matter how small, that's out of the ordinary? I'll think of more things to rule out as time goes on...

 

I'll check all those things tomorrow and let you know . We haven't taken it off the lift yet , just tried all the gears and seen the error code.

 

Ok. If the speedometer is still working, that's a quick check for ruling out the VSS. Same with the cruise control. If the OD light is blinking, that can indicate a limp mode for the trans. Before you take it off the lift, check the vacuum line for good vacuum (I assume there is one on a 92...).

 

Ok I'll check vacuum (if there is one ) I've worked on 4 different vehicles since that one so I'm not positive that it has one

 

 

Did you ever find out what was causing the problem for this?
