Default transmission issues

ive got a 92 f150 4x4 with a 302 so i checked my tranny fluid the other day and it wasnt even on the dip stick! i added one quart then checked and it was barely touching the tip. so i added another quart and when i checked it the fluid was about a inch above the full fill line on the dip stick what should i do?

did you let get to operating temp prior checking it ? did you check in "N" are you on level ground ?? if its still to high...you need to drain some..

yes it was warmed up. is there any way other than dropping the pan to get rid of some fluid? its squeaking pretty bad.

If you have the right tools you can draw some out from the dip stick tube...

You could pull the driveshaft if you think that's easier.

It would let the extra fluid out of the hole.

Heck, I just inserted a long, small plastic tube down into the dipstick hole and siphoned out enough to return the level to full. Slow go with the small tube, but it worked. Easy, free and fun!
