trailer light question

Default trailer light question

K so my 93 f150 has a weird set up . So the trailer light plug in is like a small little thing with no wires I have to crawl under and slide the trailer wires into it . But there is a silver box that has the trailer lights color what is that box

Sorry its really hard to explain . Like where my trailer lights should be it isn't . There is like a a plug in but I have to get up by the gas tank to plug it in but that is now like melted . There is also a silver box that has the wires but they're cut . Idk if that's original or not

It doesn't sound original to me either.

But, on my 96 F150, the original factory trailer plug was under the truck, bolted to the frame, near the gas tank and spare tire. I removed the bolt and attached it to the underside of the rear bumper.

Perhaps the original owner of his truck just cut the wires and jury-rigged something.

That's a no-splice trailer connector. If you remove it the factory plugs go back together, so you don't have to cut your harness to put in a trailer plug. The trailer part of the wires are gone.
