Anything between 11-16, whatever I can get it to before it pings/misfires. I tried to do it by ear, but just ended up putting it back to where the old mark was on the distributor before I turned it.

I'll be making my yearly trip to Klamath Falls & Bend Oregon & then Ravendale Washington, probably next month. After my associations "Officer Down" motorcycle benefit ride on the 10th. It only takes a couple of minutes to do the timing bump. I keep my timing light in my truck. I could probably make a 10-15 mile detour.

But you really aught to have your own light. I'd set you at 14 BTDC most likely, which is a moderate bump & we could take it for a quick under load test to check for Ping. That way, you could add more incrementally later yourself if you wanted to, but I wouldn't go over 16 BTDC if I was you. Alway better to err on the side of safety.

Go w/ a set of brass cap & rotor. Not much more than the stock version & will outlast stock 2 to 1. That way you'll be ready for the Coil upgrade later. You just wont be able to increase your plug gaps until you do the coil.

But that won't stop you from being able to bump the timing. That just requires a "healthy" ignition system.

But no Platinum plugs! Motorcraft makes a nice Nic plated copper core.

PM me around the 10th to remind me! I'll probable have my leave date by then. You won't need to blow off a day. I'll be plus or minus an hour from the time I give you. I fill both tanks & don't stop till i refill in Oregon. I do this trip at least once every year.

the plugs and wires only got tops 5k miles on them right now so they should be good for a long while.

Are they stock copper cores? I don't bump timing on anything w/ Plats, single or double. W/ the exception of the new Firewire generation Plats, but they aren't cheap. Motorcraft if you can find them, or AC/Dedco Rapidfire. However Firewires are pre-gapped & gap should not be modified.
