Just grab a tape and start measuring. That's what I did.

I'm about to build one myself, and I am an experienced subwoofer box builder. I've been doing it for over 20 years.

And I'm in the same boat (truck) as you... the seat must be all the way back. From my preliminary observations, this seems to mean that the enclosure cannot be much taller than about a foot.

Also, I'm not as much of a bass-hog as I was in my younger days... quality over quantity now. So I'll be using smaller woofers. Most likely two 8" woofers. This will help a lot, since they won't require as much internal volume.

I'll be doing some measuring this afternoon or tomorrow and report back to you on the exact dimensions that are available behind the seat.

Ok guys this box goes from one side of the cab to the other. i used a MDF board from lowes and it cost 30 bucks. i used sheetrock screws and liquid nails for wood to seal it off. i put a divider in the middle to divide the 2 speakers for a better hit. im not going to carpet it cause its behind the seat and no one can tell its there.

mustangwarrior i was just like u with the seat all the way back cause im 5'10" and now with the box its actually the right distance away i am comfortable. the only way to make the box small enough is to go with shallow subs but there more expensive!

edit: i was able to fit 2 10's i dont know it u can fit two 12's with out make the widths bigger!

I don't have my truck yet to measure, but I'm going to have to retain full seat travel as well being 6'7". I'm thinking of using 4 of Elemental Designs 6.5" subwoofers in a 2cu ft ported box tuned to 30Hz. Going to try to have the subs downfiring behind the back seats.

i had already considered shallow mounts, even am thinking about 8's, thought about putting it in the hole in the bench where the armrest folds into, and i'm 6'5" 290lb, i need all the room i can get, my other option is bucket seats and and build a center console
