Question Starting problems- help!

I have a 94 F-150 v8, 5.0. When I first bought her in October, the check engine light was on. In the owners manual, it says it may be on if there was a problem with one of the gas tanks. The front gas tank has a leak, so I had dismissed the problem until i had time to get it fixed. Starting a few weeks ago, whenever I start her up, the check engine light comes on, turns of, comes on again but blinking, then the truck stalls out. Sometimes it picks up and doesn't stall and she runs great. Other times she will stall out and I have to start her using the solenoid. I think it may be a fuel pump problem. I just need advice as to what it may be or what I can do to fix it.*

Thank you!

have you checked for codes?
when you say "solenoid" do you mean the starter solenoid?

Welcome to the board!

I am not sure what the problem with your truck is, but here is a link to tell you how to get the codes off your OBD-I truck:

https://www.f150forum.com/f10/how-re...es-obdi-10907/

Once you have gotten the codes, post them here and someone should be able to make sense of them for you.
Good luck!

if you have to cross the solenoid usually its going out. i know mine did it a while ago it would randomly not start and i had to cross the terminals or whatever u want to call them. i think it costs like 9 bucks for a new one.

The solenoid has nothing to do with the start by key then stall. Post codes. a good website to help you out immensely would be www.fordfuelinjection.com
