speedometer help!
Yeah, it seems like the cable is binding. When I got mine they didn't have the cable with the outer casing, just the inner cable. Pull out the cable from the casing and see if it's all bunched up and tangled which would explain the binding.
okay, did this, it spun, i took it all apart then i hooked a drill up and spun some Pb blaster into cable to lubricate and cable snapped, waiting on new one from store. i am just really lost. lol. when it was working the needle would jump between a 5mph section. as in 25 to 30 and so on. once let up off of gas pedal the speedometer would jump down by 10 mph or so. is that a cable problem?if so how do i correct this so it will work correctly?
1992 F150 4.9 L 4x4 long bed custom, auto trans with 70,000 original miles. When cold or in cold weather runs fine. When hot espicaly 85+ outside temp. after warming up engine skips or realy shuts down mometarly, similar to turning the ignition off then on again. It will run fine until you try to accerate or start up an incline. If you back off the accelerator it will catch again and possibily gain speed or shut down again. You have to play with the accelerator to keep it going. Once your on a plain it seems to run o.k. It has never shut down completely. Any suggestions?
