Yeah, it seems like the cable is binding. When I got mine they didn't have the cable with the outer casing, just the inner cable. Pull out the cable from the casing and see if it's all bunched up and tangled which would explain the binding.

Mine done the samething on the first one I installed. The problem was I did not have the cable and gear seated all the way into the transfer case. After getting a new gear and making sure it was installed and seated all the way into the case, mine has worked fine since.

Unhappy Help

1992 F150 4.9 L 4x4 long bed custom, auto trans with 70,000 original miles. When cold or in cold weather runs fine. When hot espicaly 85+ outside temp. after warming up engine skips or realy shuts down mometarly, similar to turning the ignition off then on again. It will run fine until you try to accerate or start up an incline. If you back off the accelerator it will catch again and possibily gain speed or shut down again. You have to play with the accelerator to keep it going. Once your on a plain it seems to run o.k. It has never shut down completely. Any suggestions?
