Default speed sensor location

'94 f150, 351, 4wd, e4od transmission.

Ive changed the sensor on the rear end, that helped none.. The computer at advanced auto shows a transmission speed sensor (different part than the rear end sensor, and is not the mechanical gear). I cant find this sensor for anything.. Ive followed wires and all..
Where is the trans speed sensor located? and if you dont think I have one, What else could be making my speedo jump around and making my transmission shift bad?

well if its shifting bad you could have a messed up sycro or something busted in there, pop open your trans drain plug and see if theres any metal inside, don't forget to top it off once you check though. if there's metal shavings tyranny junk. thats all i can think of really. my speedo jumps around alot when i hit bumps and stuff but my transmission shifts fine. I have the M50d manual.

e40d doesnt have a drain plug, Id have to drop the pan to check for shavings. Also, the transmission shift fine usually, the only difference is it takes higher rpms to make it shift, and it never did this until the speedo started acting weird.

To be clear, Automatic transmissions don't have synchros, they have planetary gears with clutch packs and servos.

the speed sensor you have circled is on the 4r70w transmission, Ive looked in the same spot on my e4od, but dont see anything that looks like the sensor I should be looking for. which is this: http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/web...sor#fragment-2

Hmm... so from what I've looked at in my diagrams, seems that sensor for the e40d is on the transfer case?

is that the little triangle-shaped shaft i see? cause on my transfer case all that is in that spot is a hole, with nothing inside(not where something is supposed to be, it is casted closed). around the hole it has an arrow in a clockwise direction, that says 4lo, 4hi, 2wd
