So that thermal fuse for the Airbag control module is blown on my truck. I think ive posted about that before, but i did research and it is a common problem and not a big deal, so I decided to just say screw it and just leave it be. Well apparently the blinking light bothers the living **** out of my girlfriend, So anyways this weekend I went out to my buddies land In Terrell, and just spent the weekend screwin around on his 4 wheelers and blew through about $400 worth of shotgun shells and clay pigeons.

Anyways my girlfriend thought she would do something nice for me while I was gone, and she took my truck to a mechanic to try and get the thermal fuse problem fixed (If I didnt know that it was out of purely good intentions and "love", then I wouldve been pissed she let someone work on it without my permission). And get this, the mechanic said something along the lines of:

"Sorry we cant fix that today it is an older vehicle, so you will have to wait untill thursday when one of our older mechanics come into work"
(implying my truck is so old that only older mechanics have the experience to work on it)

So yea anyways she said ok, left, and took it to the dealership next. This is what I though was absolutely crazy. The Mechanics at the FORD Dealership told her the same thing. Are you kidding me? Mechanics certified to work on Ford vehicles, but they cant fix a problem on a 19 year old truck? ...

Yep.. there are actually "mechanics" that don't even know what a timing light is.

Maybe we should start screening new members here. No "Old Ford Mechanics Allowed". This might prevent our trade secrets from being made public. Lol

had a buddy take his powerstroke to the dealer for a stripped drain plug head, they told him they had to replace the whole oil pan because it would come out for them either and quoted him like $1700 bucks because the engine had to come out.

cost him $150 for them to try....

He called me (he is NO mechanic) I told him bring it out to the shop and 5 min later I had it out and the oil draining, welded a nut to the stripped out head...

Yep, one shop that I worked at advertised as ASE certified. The one guy who was only had his front end/suspension cert and we did nothing but diagnostics and tune ups. He was our cashier. Lol, He couldn't pull a spark plug on a Briggs and Stratton.

Hey Hey.... I May be apprenticing as a tech but even I work on cars older then me almost daily. Then again I do work with guy who have over 30 years in the train and have a huge wealth of knowledge. Any guy in our shop would have been able to diagnose that Air Bag light.
