We had a Firefly yesterday with 1 dead cyl. Leak test revealed the valves were shot but still ran just fine but with a little less passing power and stunk like raw fuel

I dont think the shops wording was very good. But I dont think its bad to say we have a tech that works the next day with more experience with that type of repair. Saves everyone money.

Qdeezie another great mpg car is the Saturn Sl1. We have a 2000 that consistently pulls down 40 plus highway. They're inexpensive and plentiful in my area. Also reliable but most will burn some oil. They also use alot of aluminum and plastic in the manufacture so rust isn't a huge issue on older ones.

Exactly. I would pull the bulb from the dash, only problem is last time I disassembled the dash I broke all of the clips... and had to buy new parts... So i really don't want to go through that again.
