Default Smog delete and performance questions.

I have a '92 F-150 4x4 302 E4OD. I have a couple questions:

1. I'm eventually gonna cut my cat off (yes' they are required, but we don't have inspections). When i remove my cat, can I remove my smog system, and would it have any negative affects (ie. loss of power, mpg, ect.)? And what do i have to do to remove the system?

2. What else can i do to increase performance (preferably bolt-on)? I'm gonna do true duals with 18 or 24in glasspacks with just a small H-pipe for the O2. Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

I would cut off the cat, hollow it out and put it back on. You can still get a steep fine even with no inspections so it should at least look like it's there. Remove the smog stuff and plug the holes but leave the control solenoids hooked up so the computer doesn't throw a code. You'll have to cap the vacuum out of the solenoids. Leave the EGR system, the truck will run better with it. The only negative effects of removing the smog system is higher emissions.

I'd hollow it out, but I only got the one cat that's a 2-into-1. I want true duals, not a y-pipe after the cat. I might look for a couple "donor" vehicles and get a couple single cats to hollow out, if i can cheaply.

Oh, I also live in and rarely leave a county full of hicks. I'm not too worried bout havin' (visible) cats, atleast for a while. I've noticed the sheriff's department don't really care.

Theseus?

I've heard trucks like mine idle and drive, they are pretty quiet. Mine idles at 82db, and is hearable from at least a quarter mile. I've got 1 pipe off each exhaust manifold (3-1 manifolds, I6) running into an H-pipe, then to some unknown mufflers, and out 3.5 or 4 inch tips. Overall diameter of the pipe is 2.5 inches I think.
