Default Rusty raditor

Had my raditor replaced in July of 2011 and I top off the coolant everyone now and then and it's rusty firm the cap inside. Is that Gunna hurt it at all?

IMO, no. Suggest to consider a cooling system flush sometime this year - rust is not a friend of the cooling system.

they have rust inhibitors you can get at the parts stores. if its real light rust you'll be ok. but if it actual chunks, it could cause issues in the system if it builds up enough. i agree with 3477 though, keep up on routine flushes.

Not sure how true it is but I've always heard that the orange(I believe they call it dextron?) is actually bad for vehicles. I heard that it tends to gel up after 50000 miles.

That's why I change mine every other oil change. And bd it's possible it's your block if it's cast iron.

are you using a chemical when you flush it, or just water from a hose? straight water from a hose could be putting stuff back into the radiator as well.
