Sounds like ur rings or valves are letting oil by. Sea foam it and readjust the valves.

I didn't think you could adjust the valves on this engine? How do you go about that?

There can't be much oil getting through I can't see a difference between changes on the dipstick

You adjust the the nut on the rockers. It has been a while from the last time I had to do it and I had these little clips to direct the oil down. Get the book out because I think there is a sequence and torque spec for it. This should have been done when you found the bent rod some time ago. How did you adjust the rockers when you put the new rods in?

I torqued them to spec. Whatever it is in the book. I don't recall there being a sequence though. I thought if you had hydraulic lifters there was no adjustment?

I don`t have a 4.9 and really have never worked on them. I just assumed I guess.

Finally got around to doing the intake seafoam treatment today. Not impressed. Smoked for all of about 20 seconds. Not nearly what I was anticipating

I see you put the timing back to 10 a few post back. Is the timing advancing as it should on a cold start. I'm assuming this has a charcoal canister and a purge valve. Is the canister full of gas? On the next cold start take the tubes off the tb, does that help? Does the truck back fire when it runs rough? Do u have a stock air filter set up?
