Default Replacing rear main

So I started the job of replacing my rear main today on an 87 f150. I have it all apart and just need to pull the old seal. I figured I would replace the clutch while it is all apart so while I was out to get the new rear main I picked up a clutch kit as well.

I'll probably put new U-Joints in it when the drive shafts go back in and I think there is an exhaust leak where the manifold and pipe meet. I have pretty good access while the trans is out so i might as well do them as well.

Is there anything else i should be looking to do while it is all apart?

Throwout Bearing?

Pilot Bushing or Pilot Bearing?

Have you checked the flywheel ring-gear for broken teeth?

All I got.

Thanks, all the bearings came with the clutch kit. I did look over the flywheel a bit but will check it closer before I put it back in. Thanks for the reply.

Are you saying that cause it is possible it could be leaking as well(pan gasket)? If that's the case it would definitely be easier to change while the trans is out. I briefly looked at it while I was working on the rear main but didn't check it extensively.

Just an update. I do have the new rear main in. It went fairly well. After checking over the flywheel it needed to be replaced and i just got back from picking up the new one.

I checked multiple places and no one carries the exhaust flange gasket so I might wait to put everything back together until i can get them. Having the extra room there will help a lot in getting that job done.

So is there a gasket that goes between the manifold and the down pipe? That is where me leak is?

Nope, no gasket/donut. Not on any I've seen and not on my '87.

Well, that would explain why it is leaking there. I might go to a ford shop tomorrow and talk to them and see if they have any solutions.

Should I consider replacing the pan gasket while things are in their current state or just let it the way it is?
