Default Radiator core support.

I have a 1994 xlt and I am going to replace the core support. Any one have any tips or problems I might run into?

What he said plus a tetanus shot.
And seeing your truck like this, and having to put it all back together sucks, too.

Getting the rad support squared with the cab and fenders is a pain, good time to get your buddy the carpenter to come by, and teach you how to cross measure.
Chances are soothing will be a little off and you ll need shims or have to slot a hole or two.

ah crap, this is guna suck lol. i gotta take pretty much everything but the bed off my f150 for now, down the road the bed needs to come off also. looks like a load of fun.... im having 1 hell of a time finding all the bolts for the fenders, which i think will be the hardest to get off.

I took most of mine apart with a torch and cutoff wheels, home depot has tons of bolts, and those little nut clips are cheap, if you buy them in bulk, I used a lot of stainless bolts from a machine we scrapped at work, if its not going in a museum, I wouldn't bother with the old rusty hardware. The biggest pita I had with the fenders was that bolt in th back, where you have to reach through the door crack, or take the door off. Eventually, I cut a hole in my fender to reach the bolt and cut it off, then welded nuts onto the rounded off door hinge bolts, so I could get them out. And so on and so on.

yea im doing everything back to factory, so this f150 i can be a little rough on, but the other truck i have to be careful not to mess up the paint or bend anything and so on. we are not in the rust belt so all the bolts i have found so far are coming right out, im just having trouble finding all the bolts in the little holes and cracks.

I replaced the core support in my 95 Bronco a few years ago. The biggest problem I had was taking the headlight buckets out. I pulled the front grill, head light/turn signal assembly. I unbolted the fan shrowd and radiator along with the trans cooler bracket. I removed the fender bolts where it bolted to the core support. Basicly I spreaded the fenders and slid the core support out the front.
The lower support bolts where a pain. I used a 36" extension to reach down into the support and undo the bolts. It took about 4-5 hours in the driveway with basic tools.
Good luck,
-Andrew
