racing?????
The most important thing to remember when racing at the track is this...
If you see the green light, you just lost to an equal competitor.
The size of the engines never matter, Mustang 302's have been running at the track nose to nose with the Camaro 350's since the late '60's. Most match races come down to driver ability and being able to get the power to the ground without spinning.

Personally, I say if you want to show off what your truck can pull, try a real tractor pull. I've seen it with half tons before.

BTW I'd just like to point out that my prediction was pretty close. More low power on the manual Ford but the bigger engine / shorter stroke had more top end. For a truck I think the Ford had just what you want.
Thought of you the other day FTN. A Mythbusters knock off show, Stuntbusters did a tow off show. They started with 2 pickups, then a 6 cyl Cherokee beat the truck, a 4 cyl tractor beat the Cherokee and an electric airport luggage hauler with a 20 mph top speed out pulled everything. It was all about low end torque and traction. The electric motor had full torque at 0 rpm and just dragged the other vehicles wheels spinning.
