Default pumpkin?

So... if my 4x4 shifter shifts... my hubs seem to lock... my front driveshaft engages... the hell is wrong with my 4x4? Both rear tire engages if its in 4x4. Neither of the front do. Yet the shaft spins and hubs lock...

Someone said my pumpkin is off center? What's my pumpkin? I assumed diff, but I'm confused.

The diff doesn't sound like murder, by the way. Sounds like... my rear diff :/

Your pumpkin IS your differential. I've never heard about one going "off center" though. Sounds to me like your hubs aren't engaging. Do you have auto or manual hubs?

Pumpkin=diff. My uncle calls it that too. Not entirely sure why. Maybe because its big and roundish like a pumpkin? Sorry...can't help with the 4x4 issue....mine doesn't work at all...

Manual hubs. I got my u-joints replaced when I got my ball joints done. I figured the person helping would have told me if something was wrong with the hubs :|

Maybe they got put back together incorrectly, when we were done with everything? Or is it a pretty straight forward rebuild for hubs?

I would pull the hubs off and have a look at them. Make sure everything is in correctly.

Does your driveshaft engage when the hubs are locked or when the transfer case is switched to 4wd?

The older ones used to look almost exactly like a pumpkin. If someone calls it a pumpkin you can surely bet he is an old schooler like me.

Either your transfer case is pooched or the hubs are not in correctly.

Uhm... I'll find out come morning, about when the driveshaft engages. I had it in 4lo with hubs presumably locked when I checked.

I'm hoping for hubs just put back in wrong... its an old farm truck, so the 4x4 probably took abuse, but that's probably something they made sure worked

Edit: meaning I'm hoping its something I did

Edit edit?: and I can fix
